Meet Our Team

Dr. Nancy Bell

Owner/Veterinarian

Dr. Nancy Bell recently moved to Haleyville, Alabama and built Bell Veterinary Hospital. She grew up on a dairy farm in a Valley City, Ohio, and worked for several years at a local riding stable. As a small child, there was one late, stormy night that the local veterinarian had to assist the farm with a difficult calving. Dr. Bell can remember the veterinarian showing her the calf that had 2 heads and 2 tails. At that point, she looked at her father and said “I want to do that!”

After graduating from high school with honors, Dr. Bell attended the University of Findlay and graduated with a degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. Since graduating from Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999, Dr. Bell has been a practicing veterinarian, devoting her time and attention to pets and their owners. In 2010, with her latest educational adventure, she earned an advanced degree in Certified Veterinary Acupuncture, and in 2011 received advanced training in Chinese Food Therapy.

Dr. Bell enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Jeremiah, riding their 2 horses, or being outdoors with her faithful dogs, Cinder and Jake. The newest addition to the group, a stray kitten (more like a Tasmanian Devil) named Toes, likes to keep things interesting.

Karsten

Receptionist & Veterinary Assistant

At the age of 10, Karsten moved with her family to a farm in Hackleburg. It was there that her love of animal care was first ignited—she developed an intense curiosity about the inner workings and behaviors of the earth’s creatures, and it hasn’t let up since! Karsten is proud to now serve the pets and animal owners of the area as a member of the Bell Veterinary Hospital team.

During her final year of high school, Karsten interviewed Dr. Bell as a part of a school project, and picked up an application while visiting the clinic. The next year, she was hired on as an employee! Karsten has been a member of the hospital family ever since, and she especially likes helping out with surgical procedures, performing thorough dental cleanings, and staying on her toes with fast-paced emergency work.

During her free time between work and her collegiate studies, Karsten likes painting, spending time on her family’s farm, and enjoying the company of her clumsy and sweet-natured Great Dane, Zeus.

Dulce

Veterinary Assistant

Dulce grew up in Hamilton, Alabama, with parents and two sisters who are all huge animal-lovers. She always had a four-legged companion by her side over the years, and giving something back by working in the veterinary field is a dream come true. Dulce gets to care for pets hands-on as a Veterinary Assistant with the Bell Veterinary Hospital team!

Dulce joined the hospital family in early July of 2018. She finds that she especially likes helping Dr. Bell with routine surgeries, like spay and neuter procedures, and learning about the different techniques used. She’s also fond of taking X-rays. Most of all, Dulce loves meeting the area’s pets and animal owners every day; knowing that she’s able to make a lasting difference in their lives is the ultimate reward for her.

When she has time between her shifts here at the clinic and her collegiate studies, Dulce enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching her favorite Disney movies, and pampering her own pets at home. She and her family have 11 cats and a pair of dogs!
